Journaling. Self-care tool

Let me ask you a couple of questions:

  • Do you ever seem all jumbled up inside, unsure of what you want or feel?

  • Do you experience anger, sadness, anxiety and other painful emotions?

  • There are some misunderstandings or even conflicts with your dear ones, friends or colleagues?

  • Do you feel extremely tired and overwhelmed with daily routine?

  • Are you exhausted seeking for an answer or fighting with a dilemma?

Just stop, take a breath and start writing... Journaling or free writing is one of the most powerful self-therapy and creative self-care tools.

A few minutes of writing helps you to connect with your Inner Self and to start an honest and healing conversation. Before you start, I can tell you that the outcomes of journaling are just great. It helps: to clarify your thoughts and feelings; to experience silence and serenity, to know yourself better; to understand your emotions, to reduce stress; to solve problems more effectively; to find answers; to resolve disagreements with others, etc.

You might say that writing isn’t yours, it’s quite boring, etc. You might be partially right until… you start. Take the first step and try to sort out at least one simple situation or question. If you never wrote before and don’t know where to start, just use one of my following exercises:

Exercise #1

I…

I am curious…

I hear…

I see…

I want…

I (a repetition of the first sentence)

I pretend ...

I feel…

I touch ...

I worry…

I cry…

I (a repetition of the first sentence)

I understand…

I say…

I dream…

I am doing my best…

I hope…

I (a repetition of the first sentence).

Exercise #2

Make a list of 100 questions | items | answers | ways | possibilities | dreams | plans, etc.

  • Gain awareness about diverse areas of your life.

  • Connect with your real self.

  • Develop a more meaningful life

You can take a nice notebook for handwriting or open a file in Word and create a digital diary, the choice is yours. You can do it time to time or write routinely, day by day. You can create your own system or look for different ideas on Pinterest. You can use it for sorting out a specific situation or as a mindfulness instrument. Whatever you do, the gain is there and it’s yours.

Give it a go, it will unlock your creativity and intuition. You might discover new capabilities, and find unexpected solutions to seemingly unsolvable problems.

Good luck and inspiration!
